Hotel Information

ACCESSIBLE GUEST ROOMS

The hotel has bedrooms with open showers and wide access suitable for guests with mobility issues.  Specially designed cloakroom facilities are available in our public areas. 

ADAPTORS

Most international electrical adaptors are available to purchase from Reception.  We can also provide electrical extension leads on request. 

BANQUETS AND EVENTS

We have a range of function rooms offering flexible solutions for parties from 20 up to large gatherings of 200 people for Ladies’ Nights, formal functions or company and club events.  Our Head Chef would be delighted to personally tailor a menu to suit your type of function. 

BEDROOM LIGHTING

In some rooms, your room key card will need to be placed in the slot adjacent to the entrance door to activate the lighting circuits, alternatively please use the light switch.

Best Western Hotels is a sales and marketing organisation for independently owned and managed hotels.  We will be pleased to arrange onward hotel reservations, or put you in touch with Best Western Venues, our free conference venue service.

CAR PARKING

The hotel has 66 spaces, Executive rooms and Suites in the main hotel booked direct with the hotel will receive a reserved allocated parking bay on arrival. All other direct bookings will have complimentary parking on a first come first served basis.  Bookings made via 3rd party booking agents are charged parking at £8 per day. 

CASH DISPENSER

The nearest cash machine is located at the NISA shop, just a couple of minutes’ walk from the hotel.  Please ask reception for directions.

CHECK OUT

Check out time is 11am.  Where possible we will email you with your room balance for you to pay online prior to departing. We regret that we do not offer late check outs.

CHILDREN

We welcome children of all ages but only have a limited number of rooms which can accommodate children or cots. Please note that children are the responsibility of the adults accompanying them at all times and The Connaught cannot accept liability for accidents.  Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult in the Bluewater Spa & Leisure Club.   Please note the Spa is not available for children from midday-6pm daily. 

COMMENTS

COMPLAINTS

Should you have cause to complain, please do so at the time with the Duty Manager. It is much better for you and much easier for us to put matters right immediately rather than attempting an investigation afterwards.  We like to think of people bringing genuine complaints to our attention as our friends, helping us improve.

COMPUTER

The guest computer has temporarily been removed from the public area. If you have your own laptop and would like to use the hotel’s secure broadband, please contact reception and they will guide you to the nearest access point and provide you with cables if necessary.

CONFERENCE CENTRE

We have a range of conference and exhibition facilities to accommodate up to 180 people. We would be delighted to show you around the hotel and discuss any events you might be looking to arrange. Please enquire with our Conference & Events team.

CREDIT CARDS/CHEQUES

We accept all major Credit and Debit Cards – Visa, MasterCard, Switch, Maestro, Delta/Debit, American Express. Cheques are not accepted as payment for your accommodation unless received a minimum of 14 days prior to your arrival.


DOCTOR ON CALL

Please do not hesitate to call Reception (0) if you are feeling unwell – they will contact a doctor for you.  Many of the hotel staff are fully trained in first aid.

DRY CLEANING

Dry cleaning is available Monday-Friday, collected from the hotel at 8.00 am each morning and is returned at 4.00 pm the same day.  If you would like to have any items dry cleaned, please use the bag provided in your room and contact Reception prior to 8am. Please refer to the tariff in your room for a list of charges. 

EMERGENCY

In an emergency, please call Reception on ‘0’ and we will contact a Doctor, Ambulance, the Police or the Fire Brigade as necessary. For minor medical treatment and accidents many of our staff are First Aid trained and may be able to help.

EXPRESS CHECK OUT SERVICE

Avoid delay on the morning of your departure and pay your extras online via the link that will be sent to you by our reception team (where possible) - then you will simply need to drop your keys in the box near reception and be on your way - a paid invoice will be emailed to you. If you should inadvertently depart without settling your account extras, we will take payment from your credit card and will send the bill and receipt on to you.

FANS

All rooms have air conditioning. If you would like a fan during your stay please ask for one.

FAX AND PHOTOCOPYING

Fax and photocopying service available 24 hours a day from reception

FIRE

Please familiarise yourself with the location of the Fire Exits and read carefully the instructions on the back of the door.  Please do not smoke anywhere inside the building. Please inform Reception (0) if you are physically impaired, needing personal assistance in the event of an emergency situation. 

FLOWERS

The hotel uses an excellent florist, experts in their trade and are able to provide anything from a ‘romantic surprise’ to a full bridal service. Please contact Reception (0) with your requirements. 

GARDEN & TERRACES

The hotel has two outside areas for guests to enjoy.  The Patio Terrace at the front of the hotel is the perfect place to relax and watch the world go by. The Courtyard Garden is between the main hotel and the Connaught Lodge.

GUEST CARD

You will need the printed Guest Card given to you on check-in to charge any services to your room account.   Please show this to the staff when making a purchase.

GRATUITIES

The hotel does not add a service charge to any bills.  If you would like to leave something for the staff it is entirely at your own discretion.  Gratuities left in the departments will be shared between the staff of that relevant department – if you prefer it to be divided between all staff, including those ‘back of house’, please leave it at Reception. No deductions are made by the hotel.

HEATING

All bedrooms in the main hotel have air conditioning which can be used to heat or cool the room, there is a remote control to adjust the settings close to the room entrance. All rooms have central heating and radiators may be adjusted by the thermostat control.  To avoid overheating the building, the central heating is normally turned off completely during the summer (May-Sept). Should you require supplementary heating at any time of year, please call Reception (0).

HOSPITALITY TRAY

Your tea and coffee will be replenished on a daily basis unless you would prefer not to be disturbed during your stay, in which case you can request for additional tea and coffee at reception or via hotel's WhatsApp. In most rooms, you will find you tea/coffee and kettle on the desk in your room, if not it will be inside a cupboard.

INTERNET

Wi-Fi is readily available free throughout the hotel. You will need the password which is on the hotel information channel (400), also available from Reception (0).  Secure broadband is also available in some of the public areas, and high speed internet access (HSIA) cables are available on request from Reception. If you need assistance connecting, please ask at Reception or dial ‘0’.

IRON AND IRONING BOARD

Please call Reception (0) if you would like to use the hotel’s iron and ironing board.  Once finished, please call reception and a porter will collect it for you and disinfect it ready for the next guests' use.


LEISURE & SPA

Bluewater Spa is located in the lower ground floor of the hotel, accessed via the spiral staircase or lift near to reception.   Towels are provided but you will require a returnable £1 coin for your locker.   The spa facilities include changing facilities, 18m heated indoor pool, spa pool, sauna, steam room and a fully equipped gym.   The spa also offers treatments and massages which should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment - to check last minute availability please call reception on '0'.  Please note there is no access in our spa for children from midday - 6pm. 

LIFT

A lift is available to all floors and there is a separate lift to the spa. Where possible we would encourage you to use the stairs and reserve the lift for those people with mobility issues.

LUGGAGE

We are happy to store guest luggage as needed, but if you have travelled by car please store your bags in your car before heading out of for the day.

MAID SERVICE TO BEDROOMS

Your room will be serviced on a daily basis unless you would prefer us not to.

MAINTENANCE

Your room will have been checked before your arrival, however should anything fail, please call Reception (0) and we will try to rectify the matter as soon as possible. If you would like to leave any comments to help us improve the maintenance of your room, please email [email protected]

MESSAGES

If you are expecting an urgent message and would like the Reception staff to contact you personally, please let them know.  If you are out of the hotel and someone calls to leave you a message, we will put a note in your room for you.  

MORNING CALL

If you would like an early morning call, please contact Reception (0) and they will be more than happy to help you. 

NEWSPAPERS

Newspapers can be ordered at Reception and will be delivered to your room.  Newspapers ordered will be charged to your room account at the current rate.

OTHER POINTS

•         Taxis, there is a courtesy phone to the taxi company at the Reception desk

•         Letters left at Reception will be posted for you – please give them by 4pm for them to be sent on the same day. 

•         No animals, except guide dogs, are allowed on hotel premises.

PERSONAL MISHAPS – extra room cleaning

Mishaps sometimes happen and we are sympathetic and helpful on such occasions.  Please advise us should this happen to you.   To maintain hygiene standards it is necessary to employ contract cleaners to sanitize mattresses and carpets and soiled linen is usually disposed of.  Please note that there will be a minimum charge of £125.

PILLOWS AND BLANKETS

For your comfort, your bed is provided with firm and soft pillows. Blankets and additional pillows are available in your wardrobe.  Additional feather pillows are available on request.

RADIO

All popular Radio channels are available through your TV.

RECEPTION

You can contact reception via WhatsApp during your stay, or you can call them by dialing (0) from your phone 24 hours a day, the team will be happy to help you.

ROOM SERVICE

Snacks and most beverages are available 24 hours a day and can be ordered via the WhatsApp messenger. Please note that the room service delivery charge is £3.50 per tray.

ROOM TYPES

The Connaught has Single, Standard, Superior twins and doubles, Executive bedrooms and Suites.  The Connaught Lodge (not yet part of Best Western), has Singles, Doubles, Twins and Suites.  If you would like to enquire about upgrading your room or would like to look at any other room types, please contact Reception (0). Upgrades are subject to availability.  

SAFE DEPOSIT

For added security, please use the safe in your room for your valuables during your stay. The hotel does not accept liability for any valuables left unattended in your room or elsewhere in the hotel.

SMOKING POLICY

Please note that the entire hotel is non-smoking. Smokers may smoke in either the patio garden at the front of the hotel, or in the courtyard garden.


Private hire rooms and all bedrooms, including balconies are smoke-free. Guests are advised that smoking in them will incur cleaning charges amounting to at least £100.  We reserve the right to add this charge to guests’ accounts retrospectively. 

STATUTORY OBLIGATIONS

The hotel carries public liability insurance cover. The Connaught is a member of the British Hospitality Association and as such we uphold all legal obligations as applicable.

•         Local Calls from 37p-60p per minute

•         National Calls from 50p-89p per minute

•         International calls from £2 per minute


To call other guests in the main hotel please dial 1 and then the room number, so for example for room 5 dial 105, for room 38 dial 138. To dial rooms in the Connaught Lodge, dial the room number for example for room 210 dial 210.  Internal calls will not be charged.

TOILETRIES

Toiletry items are provided in your bathroom and are replenished by housekeeping as required. Complimentary essential items are available from reception 24 hours a day. 

TOURISM

There is a wide choice of attractions and activities for you to enjoy in Bournemouth and the surrounding areas.  Reception has many brochures and information on places of interest as well as special discounted tickets for some of Bournemouth’s top attractions. Please ask Reception (0) for details.  

TOWELS & FACE CLOTHS

Additional towels and face cloths are available on request via WhatsApp, free of charge. Like many hotels, we encourage the environmentally friendly practice of suggesting that guests re-use their towels during short stays.   Complimentary bathrobes are available on request, subject to availability.

WATER

The hotel provides complimentary mineral water on the first day of your stay, with the exception of Executives and Suites, where they are replenished daily. If you would like extra bottles they can be purchased through Reception (0) or the Bar (334). The tap water is safe to drink but may not be to everyone’s taste.
